The Kawai KDP75 Digital Piano with Matching Bench, presented in an elegant embossed black finish, is a new entry in the KDP series, succeeding the well-received KDP70 model. This enhanced version boasts an upgraded Responsive Hammer Compact keyboard action, which provides an authentic grand piano experience. It delivers the exceptional sound quality of a Shigeru Kawai SK-EX grand piano and offers convenient USB-MIDI connectivity, compatible with the PianoRemote and PiaBookPlayer applications. Additionally, it is equipped with an 18W amplifier and speaker system.
The KDP75 features 88 graded-weighted keys, four distinct acoustic piano sounds, a triple-pedal system, a Four Hands mode, transpose functionality, a metronome, built-in etudes, and Alfred lesson songs. It also incorporates Spatial Headphone Sound (SHS) technology and offers the capability to record and playback performances, making it an excellent option for beginners, educators, or intermediate players seeking a piano suitable for silent practice with headphones.
In addition to its piano sounds, the KDP75 includes a variety of instrument sounds such as electric pianos, organs, harpsichords, vibraphones, and strings. The Dual playing mode allows users to combine two different voices, such as an acoustic piano and a string ensemble, creating a richer sound that fosters enhanced musical creativity.
The KDP75 is elegantly designed within a simple yet attractive cabinet, featuring gently curved side arms and wooden toe blocks for added stability. It includes a retractable key cover to shield the keyboard from dust and a spacious music rest that can be folded flat when not in use. Accompanied by a matching bench, this sophisticated piano enhances the aesthetic of both large and small living spaces, including living rooms, studies, and family rooms.
The KDP75 faithfully captures the clarity and dynamic range of the Shigeru Kawai SK-EX concert grand piano. Each of the 88 keys of this remarkable instrument has been meticulously recorded, analyzed, and reproduced using cutting-edge Harmonic Imaging sound technology. This individual key recording process preserves the rich harmonic qualities of the SK-EX concert grand, ensuring that the sound produced when playing any of the KDP75s weighted keys accurately reflects the original acoustic source.
Harmonic Imaging facilitates seamless tonal transitions across the keyboard and throughout the full dynamic spectrum. Additionally, the inclusion of six types of realistic reverberation enhances the instrument’s fundamental sounds, applying effects that mimic the acoustic ambiance of a recital room, live stage, or concert hall, thereby bringing performances to life.
The Responsive Hammer Compact (RHC) action emulates the unique feel of an acoustic grand piano. Drawing from the esteemed design of the RH keyboard action, its spring-free mechanism and robust build ensure reliable motion in both upward and downward directions. Additionally, the enhanced cushioning material minimizes keyboard noise, providing a seamless, natural, and remarkably authentic piano playing experience.
The RHCII keyboard mechanism utilizes a variety of hammer weights that are specifically calibrated for each register, featuring heavier hammers for the bass and lighter hammers for the treble. This design enhances stability during fortissimo sections while maintaining the finesse required for pianissimo playing, thereby meeting the expectations of even the most selective pianists.

The Kawai triple-pedal system emulates the arrangement and specific weighting of the damper (featuring half-pedal support), soft, and sostenuto pedals found on a Shigeru Kawai SK-EX Concert grand piano. Additionally, the PianoRemote app allows users to modify the half-pedal point and soft-pedal depth, further elevating the KDP75s resemblance to an authentic acoustic piano.
The KDP75 is equipped with an 18W stereo speaker system that delivers sufficient power to fill a medium-sized room with the exquisite sounds of a Shigeru Kawai grand piano. When utilizing the speakers at a lower volume to avoid disturbing others, the KDP75s Low Volume Balance feature adeptly modifies the keyboard touch and tonal qualities of the piano, enabling pianissimo sections to be performed with greater fluidity and a more natural feel.
The KDP75 features Spatial Headphone Sound (SHS) technology, which significantly improves the depth and authenticity of the instrument’s audio when experienced through headphones or earphones. Musicians have the option to choose from three distinct acoustic presets that modify the spatial arrangement of the sound, while also alleviating auditory fatigue during prolonged use of earphones or headphones. Additionally, the piano is fitted with both 1/4″ and 3.5mm headphone jacks.
The KDP75 is equipped with a USB-MIDI port, enabling the digital piano to connect seamlessly to computers or iOS/Android smart devices. When linked to a tablet or smartphone, musicians can effortlessly manage the instrument or view notated scores for the built-in lesson songs through the specialized PianoRemote and PiaBookPlayer applications. Additionally, the capabilities of the instrument can be further enhanced by utilizing a wide variety of third-party educational, performance, and scoring applications.
