The Nikon 80-400mm f/4.5-5.6G ED AF-S VR Zoom-Nikkor Lens is a compact and versatile telephoto lens that is excellent for wildlife, action, and even portrait photography. This lens is compatible with both FX and DX-sized sensors with a 120-600mm range in the DX equivalent. The Nikon 80-400mm lens has the broadest focal length in Nikon’s lineup, which means you’ll need fewer lenses out in the field to achieve desired results. ED Glass Elements
The Nikon 80-400mm lens features ED (extra-low dispersion) and four ED glass elements to minimize chromatic aberration. ED Glass is an optical glass developed by Nikon that is used with normal optical glass in telephoto lenses to obtain optimum correction of chromatic aberrations. Super ED glass exhibits an even lower refractive index and lower light dispersion than ED glass, while excelling at eliminating secondary spectrum and correcting chromatic aberration. The lens also features Nano Crystal Coat, which is an anti-reflective coating developed by Nikon that virtually eliminates internal lens element reflections across a wide range of wavelengths. Nano Crystal Coat solves ghost effects caused by red light and effectively reduces ghost and flare caused by light entering the lens diagonally.

Vibration Reduction
The Nikon 800-400mm lens features Nikon’s Vibration Reduction technology that prevents camera shake and allows you to shoot at shutter speeds up to four times slower than usual. The AF-S NIKKOR 80-400mm f/4.5-5.6G ED VR even detects when you’re using a tripod and automatically delivers specialized VR correction.

Precise Focusing
The Nikon 80-400mm lens features two other focusing modes that compliment regular manual and autofocus modeAuto-Priority Manual Mode (A/M) and Autofocus with Manual Override (M/A). The lens also features Nikons Silent Wave Motor (SWM), which represents a significant advance in AF lens technology.
