Westcott enhances the FJ line by launching the FJ800 800Ws Touchscreen Strobe, which is the brand’s most potent monolight designed to tackle any lighting challenge. The FJ800 boasts a recycling time of 0.01 to 1.8 seconds, ensuring both speed and reliability at all times. Similar to the FJ400 II model, the FJ800 is equipped with a 30W bi-color LED modeling light and a full-color OLED touchscreen that allows for intuitive and straightforward onboard control. Additionally, this 800Ws variant includes practical LED group color indicators on its rear for easy identification. Other notable features include flash durations with a Freeze mode and a Creative Mask function for enhanced efficiency. Users will also appreciate the versatile AC/DC power options provided by the included interchangeable FJ Pro battery, which offers up to 250 full power flashes per charge. The FJ800 has a slightly larger body design compared to the FJ400 II unit, yet it still retains a compact overall form factor. It serves as a quick strobe lighting solution, featuring a robust handle and a lightweight design at 7.5 lb, ensuring excellent portability.

The FJ800 offers a versatile 9-stop power range (3.12 – 800Ws) with increments of 0.1 and 1.0, making it suitable for various situations. The flash head features a peak action-stopping flash duration of 1/25,000 in Freeze mode, can achieve 50 fps (depending on the camera and power), and supports high-speed sync up to 1/8000 second, along with both front and rear curtain sync. Additionally, users have the ability to modify flash exposure compensation from -3 to +3 EV. Creative Mask Mode

Alongside the fundamental manual and TTL flash modes, there are additional useful settings, including the Westcott Creative Mask feature, which is particularly beneficial for high-volume and fast-paced photography sessions. This feature enables photographers to generate as many as six different lighting combinations without the need to reposition the fixtures. The flash head has an integrated 31-channel, 16-group, 2.4 GHz wireless radio frequency with a range of 328′. The wireless system prevents interference with other photographers or to shoot several individual setups.

The FJ800 is equipped with a robust, removable 29.6V, 2500mAh AC/DC lithium-ion battery, providing 250 full flashes and thousands of low-power flashes on a 1.5-hour charge. The FJ Pro battery that comes with it features LED status indicators to inform you of the remaining power. Additionally, users have the option to purchase the FJ ProMax battery, which offers a higher capacity for up to 500 flashes at full power. The FJ800’s battery compatibility with the FJ400 II unit removes the necessity for multiple power solutions, while the convenient AC trickle-charge functionality guarantees uninterrupted performance during prolonged sessions.

30W Bi-Color LED Modeling Light

An upgraded 30W LED modeling light is employed with bi-color adjustability from 2700 to 6500K, which allows easy framing and composition.

Mounting & Firmware Updates

This monolight has a Bowens S front and comes with a 5/8″ tilting bracket to mount on separately available light stands, as well as a 9mm umbrella receptacle. Also, a USB-C port is present for firmware updates.

Essential Accessories

The FJ800 ships with a magnetic 5.5″ reflector with a gel set (CTO, 1/2-CTO, window green, and diffusion). An insert is also included to allow use of optional Westcott’s Rapid Box Switch softboxes. A carry case is provided for storage and transport. You can also use the FJ800’s convenient and durable handle.
